Ready to shape, automate and run a fast-growing data mining platform?
Fresh8 Gaming needs you to build on our solid foundations in operations, helping us scale up our behaviour-based content serving platform.
This is a hands-on job shaping our automation and production operations, and looking after our platform.
As our first dedicated DevOps Engineer, you'll be joining our friendly, capable engineering team, and collaborating on a mix of new project work, improvement initiatives and systems administration. You'll have freedom to choose and implement best practice methods and to employ the latest technologies, enabling better automation for our software engineers and ensuring we have complete site reliability and effective scaling.
Our software stack is predominantly open source - written in Go - and is structured as a service oriented architecture. Data storage is in Elastic for statistics and metrics, with queueing system data stored in Redis. AngularJS and Node.js are used for our CMS solution.
What you’ll do
- Choose and deploy open source tools and technologies to build and support a robust infrastructure, with an emphasis on operational self-service and continuous deployment
- Install and configure a variety of SQL and NoSQL databases, Web servers, application frameworks, caches, and distributed messaging systems
- Be responsible for automating the deployment and configuration of the virtualised infrastructure and the entire software stack
About you:
- You bring demonstrable skills in performing and automating systems admin tasks using two or more of: Chef | Puppet | Ansible
- You have designed and implemented High Availability hosting solutions, and provided second and third-line support of hosting platforms and applications
- You can help scale Python or Go backends and frameworks
- You have deployed and scaled high-traffic services in the cloud, preferably on AWS
- You're used to working with large datasets, and you may bring or like to gain some DBA skills, e.g.; MongoDB | Cassandra | Hadoop | HBase | Elasticsearch | BigQuery | CouchDB | MySQL | PostgreSQL | Spark | Storm | Riak | MLib | DynamoDB | MariaDB | etc
- You have the desire to teach and mentor other engineers
