Junior IT Operations Engineer: learn DevOps (Bath) TL133

Ready to build on your systems skills, supporting the internal IT and engineering environments of a software provider?

Our engineering team is growing and we need someone to help run our internal systems and to support our staff. We also need you to help run and support the environments in software development, integration and test.

We will provide full training on our systems and processes, with on-the-job mentoring from our senior engineers. You will be reporting to our VP of engineering, and help ensure we get the best from technology as we grow and diversify our operation.

We're looking for someone who is eager to contribute from the start. In return we offer chance to make a positive impact, with career progression towards running our IT, or towards DevOps, or software engineering if you prefer.

Upcoming initiatives:
  • Automation of systems and repetitive tasks to support our senior engineers
  • Streamlining our cloud deployment to AWS
  • Helping formalise our IT policy and handbook
  • Evaluating new collaborative working technologies
About you:
  • You have a strong natural curiosity and an enthusiasm for technology
  • You learn quickly, and welcome chance to build skills across systems, technical support and automation
  • You have demonstrable skills in supporting systems, Linux based servers and virtualisation - from the workplace, University, or your hobby projects
  • You may have - or like to gain - skills in scripting or programming, e.g. Python, Ruby, Bash, Perl, C++
  • You may have a Computing related degree, or an equivalent understanding of computing through your own initiative
